Picton Castle at sea; Thursday 18 November 2010 בס"ד

First two hours of morning watch were uneventful, and so I began scraping the focslehead at 0545 and stopped at 0645 and swept up the mess. Took fourth lookout, with nothing to report but a few dolphins, but when I told those awake on the well deck that there were dolphins, they just busted my chops. Helped rig up the awning, then watch below. Typed logs, took a nap, then lunch. Typed logs, took a nap, then watch. Rigged up the power shower, and took one too. At 1630, piloting workshop part IV and review. We learned about basic collision avoidance, which I had a good grasp of already. At 1730 I took second lookout, then after shipcheck had dinner and Vicky birthday cake. After dinner, we set some fore-and-aft sails, then I went into galley cleaning. Precomputed the evening twilight stars with Dapper, although only Yo got a sight. Ground coffee, and at the end of watch muster, learned we're about 20nm from some Indonesian islands, and also that we're going to try a new system of just assigning ourselves to do hourly rotations instead of having our lead seamen tell us what to do. Did the after watch well deck workout, then joined others on the aloha deck for a sophisticated birthday wine party, and I had a very nice time talking with Vicky, pretty much our first in-depth conversation. Ended up there until 2345, then slept on the hatch.
