Picton Castle at sea; Friday 9 July 2010 בס"ד

Morning watch had me aloft furling the main tgallant staysl, bracing up a point, and standing fourth helm steering SW, then SW½W, then SW again. From breakfast to lunch I started to read the Caine Mutiny and then took a nap form lunch to watch on the hatch and in my rack. At 1600 when our celestial nav course began, there was a fishing trawler astern of us quite close. We learned how to take a noon sight and correct error and use the chart to determine latitude. Afterwards, cleaned more of the monomoy flakes and even used the shopvac briefly (power tools underway is a big deal). Cleaned galley buckets and stood fourth lookout. We had a bro-executive meeting since Shawn was galley and every bro was accounted for. Then I read to page 220 in the Caine Mutiny.
