Picton Castle at sea; Monday 12 July 2010 בס"ד

Morning watch was second helm steering SW½W, and deckwash and soogie as per usual. Took a nap from breakfast to lunch, then woke to mend my pants and begin to read Clark's copy of “White Jacket” by Melville, which he had loaned me. Stood fifteen minutes of the first lookout, then we had ditty bag part two, where we made it to grommets. Did that until dinner, which was pork chops, but I almost ate it because it looked strangely like turkey. Just before I took a bite, Shawn was like, “Fred, wtf are you doing?” A close call. Cleaned slops, plastics, and ground coffee. Jo was feeling down all day so we had a DMC to help cheer her up. Now to bed.
