Picton Castle at sea; Thursday 5 August 2010 בס"ד

Woke up at 0410 because we were retarding the clock to ZD+9, so it was actually 0310. Stood the ghost lookout from 0340 to 0400, ship check, and just did wakeups otherwise at 0615 and 0715. After sunrise, instead of holystoning, we used scrapers to level out the pitch between deck planks where it was bulging. Did a deckwash and soogie and after breakfast read TCOMC until before lunch. Jo came to the Aloha deck very upset about a graphic nightmare she had during this time (it was pretty funny to hear but she was freaked out). At about 1120, I went to my bunk and passed out, skipping lunch. Woke up at 1500, looked at the Celestia program I have for Linux, and went on watch. Immediately after we took the deck, FISH ON was called and a large Mahi was reeled in, and there was a subsequent bloodbath. Right after this, we had a quarterdeck lecture from Mike Jehle with the Captain about Polynesian history, migration, and navigation, on which both of them were quite learned. I took second helm, and was relieved halfway through for a mini-marlinspike and then dinner. Washed dishes after with Dapper Dan (who was on galley), and then we took in the mainsl and then the fore tgallant to reduce our speed, since we're nearly there and we want to arrive in daylight. Had a somewhat heated? Discussion on the quarterdeck about firearms with Paula. Now writing this log and going to type up as many as I can.
